The COVID-19 Era Means Safety First! What the Copper Whale is Doing to Protect Guests and Staff…
Welcome back to the Copper Whale Inn! In this brave new world, we hope you find space in your life and in your heart to get back to traveling, safely. Here is what we are doing at the Copper Whale Inn to keep you safe.
The Check-in Process
Key packets will be made for every guest before arrival. Though the employee must touch the keys and envelopes while making the key packets, less person-to-person contact is really the key to avoid spreading the virus. The front desk will sanitize each key and key tag before stuffing the envelopes, and will place your key packet in your room. Please contact us in advance for instructions to enter the building, and the location of your room.
We ask that you wear masks when passing through, or lingering in, the common areas (except while eating, of course). Hand sanitizer is provided in the common areas. Please feel free to use it often, but especially before touching any of the surfaces in these areas. For example, when you enter the kitchen to get your boxed breakfast or eat your Snow City Cafe takeout, please sanitize your hands on your way in. Copper Whale Inn employees will sanitize the common area surfaces and handles, as well as exterior building door handles, often.
For the remainder of 2020, we will not be serving our long-loved breakfast buffet. Fear not! We have created some worthy replacements so that you still get the value and enjoyment out of the included breakfast here at your favorite Inn. Each guest will be provided with a Snow City gift card. Snow City Cafe is just down the street from us (less than one block away on the corner of 4th and L) and is Candice’s all-time favorite restaurant. They are currently doing take-out and dine-in with limited capacity, and guests will be able to use their gift card to purchase for pickup. Alternatively, you may request in advance a boxed breakfast made up of a variety of items from our traditional much-loved buffet.
As we approach summer of 2021, we may update these procedures. Your key packet welcome letter will explain the current breakfast plan for your stay.
We have always held cleanliness to the highest standards when cleaning guest rooms between stays. However, we have added the following items. Cleaning personnel will now wear masks while cleaning, in addition to the previously-worn gloves. When the room has been cleaned and reset, it will then be machine-fogged for additional disinfecting of the air and all surfaces before new guests check in. Fog machines spray tiny particles of approved disinfectant throughout the room, so that they come into contact with every surface in the space.
Nearly half of our guest rooms have exterior entrances. For these rooms, passing through the common areas is not necessary, except when checking in. If you would like to be placed in one of these rooms, please request this when making your reservation. We cannot guarantee that you will be placed here, but we will do our best. If this is 100% essential in order for you to stay here, please make that clear in your comments as well, so that we can discuss this probability, and cancel your room with no penalty if we are unable to guarantee this placement.
The Check-out Process
To check out, simply leave your keys inside your room and depart by 10am. If you would like to request late check-out, you may do so by adding it to your original booking, calling to request late check-out, or using your in-room tablet to request late check-out. Late check-out is not always available, but we will do our best to accommodate these requests, and of course we will not charge you the late check-out fee (applicable May through September) unless we have confirmed that late check-out is possible for your room.
We still offer luggage storage if needed. We will sanitize the handles on your bags, and keep them in the lobby of the main building if you are only storing them for the day, or in the luggage storage attic if you need to store them for a longer period. Please let the front desk know when you will return for your bags so that we can arrange to have them waiting for you in the lobby.
